Trying to find a song that starts of "We were like soldiers"

There was a song I was listening to loads recently, but then I forgot it and have not been able to remember it since. It was something like either a 80s or a 90s song and it had a nice backing rock guitar.

It started off with the lyrics

"We were like soldiers"
or
"We were fighting like soldiers"

and then there were some other lyrics like

"everything you does and something something I can find the words I cant find the words."

Its mainly the first opening lyrics I am trying to find.

If anyone can help me that would be a of great help.
