What’s a ‘BUMPER’ ? I’m getting too old for all this.

Bumper was that it was a radio talk show intro, like a bumper car for their show vs. the bumper car of local small town stations running local small town info during the breaks. All the nation-wide radio hosts have songs they rotate as "bumpers" (it allows affiliates to jump into the show as a countdown and not run local news weather or ads over the host of the national talk show)

The only reason I mention bumper is as in all radio talk show bumper music the host and his name intro are talking over the bumper (or 'warning to local affiliate to get the hardware store on 3rd street's commercial off the air already' ) song.

I don't care about the Jones part or what the host has to say just trying to let you know it was grabbed from the radio so there is cross talk unrelated to the song. Any help on the actual song would be apprecated! :-)

Ah Ha! An American expression, but then again I never listen to commercial radio here in Australia so maybe it’s used here too.
