Am going through any tunes related to "The Tonight Show Band with Doc Severinsen". It sounds like a bridge or ending. Will get back to you in a few days!

Yeah I searched and searched through Severinsen's catalog to no avail.

My guess is it was a popular song around the early 1980's and they did their version of it.

Originally I was thinking "Isn't she lovely" jazzed up. But I haven't found a recording of it or anything.

I found this was from the June 2, 1982 show (with guests William Shatner, Peter Allen & Joan Embery).

I'm also looking for any kind of hook, in the melody, harmony, rhythm. Apparently Tommy Newsom (sax) did most of the arranging for that band so I'll look in his discogs.

The brass seem to be playing in a 6/8 waltz or swing, so I've been looking for waltzy tunes from that era. (The bass or kick drum seems to stay in 4/4 time). I'm not clued up on early 80s stuff, but defo they could have taken a current 4/4 tune and given it a twist.

Last edited by Saulaac; 10-08-2022 at 06:07 PM. Reason: added that the tune could have been arranged from 4/4 into 6/8
