Sigur Rós : Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust

A little off topic from the new album I'll admit, but Ive never gotten into Sigur Ros before. Just know a few songs here and there. I like the song they had in the Vanilla Sky soundtrack. Don't know it's name though! Anyway, any suggestions on what album I should get first if I'm trying to get into them? Again, sorry for going off topic from the new one.

I have to say...Excellent album.
I love the acoustic approach they have taken here!
Anyone who doesn't like it, just give more spins and It'll definitely grow on you.

The first half of the album is excellent, but the last half brings the album down. The songs get a bit boring towards the end. However Inní mér syngur vitleysingur and Við spilum endalaust are fantastic songs. I want to sing along to them but i dont know the words lol! Overall Sigur Ros have reinvented themselves somewhat with a few shorter catchier songs like these, distancing themselves from the crowded post-rock scene.

I really, really loved it. It's a lot more, acoustic I guess in a sense, then there older work, and I find it really great. Ara Batur is really incredible and very, very powerful near the end. Fljótavík really struck a chord with me; I though it was incredibly beautiful. I loved the whole tone of All Alright, it has hope, but is incredibly sad at the same time. I also really loved listening to Gódan daginn, I love listening to that when I'm out during a sunny day; it's a beautiful experience.

Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to say is the whole album is fantastic. I'm more prone to liking their slower material, but I do love every track on the album. I actually saw them in Toronto not too long ago too. Incredible show.

As an individual who listens to whole albums wall-to-wall, I have to say that as such this particular record fails. The sequencing is all wrong, and there are two songs (Festival and Ara Batur) which ruin the pacing of the album. Individually these songs work perfectly. Festival and Ara Batur, when listened out of context, are great journeys, but they are exhausting when listening to the record from beginning to end.

Takk... had that same problem with Se Lest, Milano and Svo Hjlott (I think), though the difference in that record is that those songs were more impressive, as they worked on momentum, than the slow crawl and sudden outburst of the former two tracks (which to me is completely illogical), and thus more easily forgivable.

This record is, to me, average when compared to all the more impressive work that came before it, except for maybe Von.

I like this album a lot, it's my first of Sigur Rós. I didn't find time to listen to more albums but I will do it for sure. I like "weird" music more and more

I would have to say "average". Maybe that's because I listened to it with high expectations after hearing (), Takk, and Agaetis Byrjun.
