Whoa, never knew they were making another album!
Rate my music reviews(checked just now :p: )-
1. At least the cover art is just bad, rather than horrible (like the rest of their albums).

2. how does this have a 5.00 rating already?

I'll DL and check it out anyways, just out of curiosity (if it has leaked).
Not goona pass any comment yet.

Piss Me Off 08-21-2008 01:07 PM

Hasn't leaked apart from an album track (Falling Down) and the single, been a few fakes doing the rounds though. RYM peeps just get a bit excited!

The Monkey 08-21-2008 01:27 PM

I will wait with voting until it has been released, but seeing as they haven't made a good album in 13 years, my expectations are pretty low. (Some of the singles have been good, but the albums as a whole have sucked.)

sweet_nothing 08-21-2008 06:07 PM

I'm really looking forward to this album, Oasis claim that this will not be another britpop album. From what I heard I like and their last album wasn't bad.

Duke Of Slander 08-25-2008 10:48 PM

The single The Shock Of The Lightning came out the other day if anyone would like it.

Mojo 08-26-2008 12:39 PM

I really like the new single. I've liked more recent Oasis singles before (ie Hindu Times, Go Let It Out etc) and then tired of them so I guess I'll wait and see what happens to my opinions of this new one but I have to say I'm optimistic. It sounds a little reminiscent of Bring It On Down. The drumming is outstanding, I'm a little disappointed that I won't get to see Ringo's kid tour this record as he's left.

WolfAtTheDoor 08-26-2008 07:07 PM

Don't believe the truth was terrible.

However I have high hopes for this one, because as a single shock of the lightning is the best thing they've done in years.

It gives me a better impression of their new album than Lyla did for me, anyway...

jackhammer 08-31-2008 01:49 PM

I quite like the new single. Nothing too original but it's got good energy. I have'nt heard ANY of their albums since the 2nd album. First is a doozy though.

Piss Me Off 09-19-2008 05:20 PM

Looks to have leaked not too long ago.

Molecules 09-19-2008 07:50 PM

Sort of made a tradition since i was a kid of getting every new Oasis album, used to really love 'Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants' and the live version of 'Gas Panic'... cool, i know.

There's a certain comfort that as our melting planet turns Oasis will always remain the same. I guess that's their appeal, like JH said the new one has energy and it's the usual rock n' roll-blast from the past. Even the video seems derived from some 60's album sleeve...
Liam's voice suits the simple structure and it's a good example of an Oasis single I guess.

kyleargyle 09-24-2008 02:05 PM

Just heard the whole thing...really love it. It's a departure for them, but not a huge one so it's still familiar. Stand-out tracks are the single, the opener (Bag it Up), Liam's ode to John Lennon (I'm Oughta Time), The Turning and Falling Down.

lucifer_sam 09-30-2008 10:18 PM

If you expected Oasis to actually stay together for more than a few days you're sorely mistaken. It must've been five minutes since Liam walked off a stage somewhere...

Molecules 10-01-2008 12:11 AM

lol @ Oasis losing the ego!

I WANT to hear this album now.

spark10036 10-02-2008 04:55 PM

I want to hear it,but something tells me I'm not going to like it...

cardboard adolescent 10-03-2008 02:20 AM

I think I listened to most of this album tonight in somebody's room, and I wasn't too impressed. Watered down generic crap, in other words.

Molecules 10-03-2008 02:50 AM

yesyesyes but you have to judge forget good music for a moment and place it in the context of the Oasis continuum - is it as good as / better than Definitely Maybe/Morning Glory or is it a new Be Here Now?
Infact don't answer that CA :D

Punk- 10-03-2008 12:42 PM

when did this album come out

Zer0 10-06-2008 08:18 AM

yawn

Molecules 10-06-2008 12:08 PM

i gave up after a couple of tracks on the myspace album stream....MySpace.com - OASIS - Manchester, UK - Alternative / Rock / Indie - www.myspace.com/oasis

unremarkable. might be more in the mood later

sweet_nothing 10-06-2008 10:06 PM

So is it worth the buy? Also I think you guys are expecting too much, it's Oasis they're not really known for being groundbreaking or innovative.

Tyler Durden 10-07-2008 01:00 PM

It's not bad nothing remarkable, It's one of those cds where the best song is the single.

spark10036 10-08-2008 08:53 AM

it's not that bad,but not that good either...i would say 5/10...?
i don't know about u guys but i find that their are too many songs where Noel sings lead.one or two songs like the first albums where ok,but i think now he is trying to hard to show that this is his band, but i think is obvious who is the better vocalist

Mojo 10-09-2008 07:06 AM

I stopped comparing Oasis albums to Definitely Maybe a long time ago. I don't expect a new Oasis record to have as much impact as they used to but I think this album is the best they've done in a long time. It has a groove, the psychedelica is back, some of the songs seem to have some real balls about them compared to some of the weak crap thats been on their last few albums. Far from a perfect record, a long way from their best but the most welcome Oasis release in several years for me.

Mojo 10-09-2008 07:09 AM

"but i think now he is trying to hard to show that this is his band"
....................

Why would you think that? I think you have it the wrong way up. 14 years ago Noel Gallagher thought Oasis was his band. He joined the band under the condition that he wrote the songs because he was the most talented and all Liams songs were ****. He then wrote the first 3 records on his own and controlled every single aspect of the creative input in what they released. Now Liam has taught himself how to play the guitar and the songwriting duties are shared amongst the entire band.

my point exactly...now not only he is not the most charismatic performer in the band, now also the other members and not just Liam are writing material for the albums.Noel's reaction to this i think is singing lead to more songs then he should

Is that really a bad thing? I mean Noel does have a better vocal range than Liam.

well I don't know about that one..maybe you are right,I never really looked in to their vocal range..but I think you we all agree that better range doesn't mean better singer.look at Mariah Carrey.Liam can make the line "I'm feeling supersonic give me gin and tonic" sound like it means something.Noel is great don't get me wrong, but I enjoy Liam's voice better, and that is what I expect when I listen to an Oasis' album

sweet_nothing 10-14-2008 10:01 PM

Well it is true about Noel having better range, on Acquiesce for example he had to sing the chorus because Liam couldn't reach those high notes. But Liam's voice does sounds better for most songs, I still havent heard the new album though. :X

I don't think Noel has had a reaction to that to be honest. They've always shared lead vocals and on the new record Noel just happens to take lead on a couple more than he has done in the past but its not just lead vocals that have been shared more in recent times, more or less every aspect of the new record has been shared amongst the band more than it ever has done before. Andy Bell has been credited with electric guitar and bass as has Gem, Andy Bell plays sitar on the album, the keyboards are a shared duty, the production and the mixing is a responsibility Noel no longer wants as much of a part in anymore....its more of a collective effort now whereas at one time Noel was in charge. But with that said Noel is still the gaffer and none of that would happen if he didnt want it and wasnt happy with things being done that way.

lucifer_sam 10-16-2008 02:26 PM

I'd say the disc is alright, it's got a few memorable tracks on there. I've never been a huge Britpop fan but I think it's got some decent qualities.

sweet_nothing 10-18-2008 02:04 AM

I just got the album and I have to say I like it, so I voted very good.

EDGE 02-01-2009 11:19 PM

It's whatever to me.

The Vintage Sound 02-02-2009 03:57 AM

I liked the album alot! Strong opening track, the album has an excellent flow from song to song. I enjoyed it beginning to end.

ProgProfessor 02-04-2009 11:15 AM

For me, the Beatles have moved to a new Oasis!

I'm Outta Time and The Nature of Reality are my favorites!

This Music Sucks 03-17-2009 12:18 PM

I think at least this album they've got some decent classic brit rock tracks on here. Maybe getting back to days of old.

psycho27292 03-18-2009 12:19 PM

this is great ****

cherrypopgyaru 03-27-2009 04:11 PM

I liked Soldier On, and there's a track on there that sounds like of arabic-inspired which is also good. Their more low-key tracks are more memorable to me.

Bulldog 04-12-2009 03:26 AM

Eh. The album's ok I suppose. Not among their worst, but certainly not among their best - to me it just doesn't pack any truly remarkable songs. Don't Believe the Truth was a fantastic album, so this following it up disappointed me a little. Then again, I'd be lying if I said I had high expectations.

Yes, I know this comment's a bit late, but I've only just found this poll :p:

Joe Cool 06-07-2009 03:48 PM

I voted very good (wish there something in between that and average). I thought that the first half of tracks were ace but then the second half contained some meh tracks. It's definitely an improvement from their last few albums, but I think it's time for them to call it a day to be honest.
