Uhm, is this thread just going to sit here until it comes out?

Woah. Green Day have a new album coming out. MAJOR meh.

More to the point, is it just me or does the track listing sound incredibly pretentious? Act 1, 2 and 3? What do they think they're writing, a bleedin' opera?

Little can be more frustrating than a band losing sight of what they're good at and trying to be what they're clearly not.

Yes.

Anyways, I have a fairly neutral opinion of Green Day, and I will be hearing this album when it is released.

American Idiot's more melodic tracks were pretty good, so that's what I'm hoping for with this album, not some political anthemy sh*t.

To be fair they're only following the zeitgeist (Christ I hate myself for using the word). Coldplay's bombastic ballads were nothing spectacular but they still used a fucking Delacroix for the cover art. Bands today are looking for creative ways to bolster their self-image (except make better music).

First clear your mind of all negative Green Day thoughts, then listen to Homecoming, then apoligize for calling me a liar and beg for forgiveness.

I'm looking for some of their good old shit. I don't want this to be a re-run of American Idiot with a bunch of winey little brats screaming and all that.
