Default Depeche Mode - "Sounds of the Universe"

Hi all,

Don't know how many other DM fans there might be out there in the ether, but I wanted to make sure that everyone was in the know about their upcoming release. The new record is called "Sounds of the Universe" and it comes out on April 21st in North America. Here is a link to the album info:

If you want to check out the music video for the first single, "Wrong," here is a link:

They are also on tour in support of the record. I am hoping that they will expand their US dates, as my hometown of Chicago is not currently on the agenda. They will be here from late July until early September. Here is a link to the tour dates:

From what I've heard from this album so far, I don't like it. Playing the Angel was great because the songs were more or less unique and it was a really easy CD to get in to. Everything I've heard from this CD just seems to lack that energy.

All that I have heard thus far is "Wrong," which I am lukewarm on at best, frankly. I am not typically a fan of songs where there is one or two words that are used far too frequently. I have the faith that they will pull out a record with some good surprises, though.

"Playing the Angel" was, for me, a record with a few great singles, but did not have an overpowering influence on me as a complete album. When I saw them on tour in support of PtA, though, they were great. So, I am still definitely a fan and supporter, even if I might not be blindly enthusiastic of everything that they do.

Hopefully they will pull a nice surprise out of the bag for both of us with SotU!
