I'd hate to play middle man but... While I don't think it's on par as MMLP I certainly don't think it's bad or selloutish. It's a lot more commercial than Relapse, that's for sure - but it's also a far better record.
Also, have you guys noticed the maturing in his voice? |

Listen to them back to back and you'll see what I mean.

I loved Relapse because Slim Shady was going super crazy on that one and his voice was jumping all over the place. I almost reminded me of Infinite in some ways.

the ones you picked don't even mirror each other I'm not afraid compares with Stan NOT the two songs you picked there. I'm going to bed so I will do a complete run down of the two songs that compare with each other later

But that's the point- you can't find anything to compare with "Kill You" or "Criminal" or "The Real Slim Shady" or even the skits like "PSA 2000".

I think Stan compares much more to 25 to Life. It's hard not to notice similarities. The foreboding hook, the acoustic guitar beat at the beginning, Eminem talking about his relationship with his music, as Stan writes about his relationship with Eminem's music, and the giant plot twist at the end that makes you think...
Not Afraid? I can see how it might compare in terms of popularity, as you said, but the two songs arn't that like each other... |

Relapse is probably his worst release, quickly followed by Encore.
Recovery is definitely a step in the right direction.

I've always like Eminem.. I find people are always going to look for a way to talk bad about someone who's hit such success, and on the other side of the coin, it's very tough to live up to what he's done before... I think all of his albums have been excellent.. They combine analogies, with some disses, and comedy... He shows such diversity in his rhymes that is very un-common, and I dig it.

This album regardless of his older stuff, is pretty solid. I am in the popular opinion where his older stuff is better, because well...that's just it, it is. But...hearing this album was a nice refreshing change from when he released Relapse. Don't get me wrong, that album was fine and all, but it really wasn't the "Eminem sound" I was wanting to hear. I read up on some of the lyrics, and they were great, but I just couldn't get used to the style he was using for his "vocal accent" or whatever you call it. He didn't sound like himself in that album. So hearing this, and hearing all his "purity" made it worthwile.
