I can only imagine this will be a very different Daft Punk, considering the score was written with an orchestra. Here's a sneak peak, although I'm not sure this track will really be one of the surprises of the record.

pourmeanother 12-07-2010 01:14 AM

I've really been looking forward to this album, and am curious to see how Daft Punk is able to infuse an orchestra as well as tackle a new challenge of scoring a film. Based on the samples I've heard, it's going to be amazing. I know most on MB are into "sharing" or "stumbling upon" albums, but, just an fyi, amazon.com has the 22 tracks available for download at a measly $4. Will be checking it out and sharing more thoughts after a few good listens.

FETCHER. 12-07-2010 05:14 AM

<3 i have so much faith. cant wait for it :D:D

Hitting_Singularity 12-07-2010 07:01 AM

so I just listened to the whole thing.

upon first listen it's a bit disappointing if you expect a new Daft Punk album. It is very different from their other stuff obviously, but in my opinion it's not much more than a very good soundtrack to a film.

It doesn't stand up to other classical music and I felt that it was a bit boring and repetitive at some points.

that being said, I gave it a very good in the poll. In terms of soundtracks it might be one of the best, just don't expect the new daft punk album.

someonecompletelyrandom 12-16-2010 03:06 PM

Well, they scored the film. They didn't write a concept record based on it. So I think anyone disappointed because it's not "Daft Punk"y enough is being a bit unreasonable.

Although I'm speaking in the dark here. I haven't heard it yet. I am seeing the premiere of the film tonight however. :D

FETCHER. 12-16-2010 03:54 PM

Conan dont ruin it! I'm going to see it at the Imax cinema, apparantly its really good? anyway. I'll vote in the poll once ive been and actually heard some of the songs.

Batty 12-16-2010 04:12 PM

I have the 20th anniversary DVD of the original Tron, looking forward to seeing this movie.

duga 12-22-2010 04:22 PM

I saw the movie last night. I thought it was really good. The effects are consistently impressive throughout the whole movie and the storyline doesn't come off as corny as the first movie. I also loved the score. I thought Daft Punk did the absolute most perfect job they could for that movie. My friend who hates electronic even commented on how good it was. Is it new Daft Punk? No. It's not supposed to be. It's a score to a movie and they approach it that way. The music basically made the movie, in my opinion. If it hadn't been for the dark edge they add to it, the whole movie could have had a completely different tone.

They also make a cameo in the movie as well...I thought that was really cool.

someonecompletelyrandom 12-23-2010 01:17 AM

Yeah, I loved their little appearance in the film. Funny story, I accidentally said "DAFT PUNK" really loud in the theater when I saw them.

LiveToListen 12-23-2010 02:36 PM

^^ Lol'd at your reply.

I've been listening to Derezzed since yesterday I've been playing it on Tap Tap Revenge 3 on my iPod I gotta say I actually like this song, but I see myself listening to it a few times then getting annoyed by the tune of it.
Did you know they came out with a line of products for the Tron thing?
Like Tron Headphones and a Dock for your iPod there all by Monster Cable I thought it was pretty cool. :)

FETCHER. 12-28-2010 05:17 PM

When I went I was absolutely in love with the nightclub scene music. I actually said also in the pictures "That's definitely daft punk, i swear." and kept going on about it until I read it on the internet.

MikelMashjr 01-04-2011 03:59 AM

im a huge soundtrack fan and this is hands down the best soundtrack ive ever listened to. I'll put it up there with the truman show sountrack aswell as the twilight one from the first movie.

djchameleon 01-04-2011 11:33 PM

whoa are you serious? best soundtrack ever? oh nevermind that YOU have listened to. You really need to listen to more soundtracks then.

Layer Cake comes to mind as a really great one and one of my personal favorites The Scorpion King.

Hitting_Singularity 01-05-2011 03:13 PM

just the fact that he said Twilight should have made you ignore him

FETCHER. 01-05-2011 07:28 PM

I'm sorry but I would like to think I have an actual taste in music and I also think the son from twilight (baseball scene) is a good song. I'm not even sure if it's baseball they're playing tbh.

What?!?!

I like that soundtrack it isn't too bad.

Scream 3 is another good one and DareDevil Soundtrack.

MoonlitSunshine 01-06-2011 05:57 AM

What about "O Brother Where Art Though?" or "Almost Famous"? Both have fantastic Soundtracks. I have to say, I thought Daft Punk did a great job with the Soundtrack for Tron Legacy, it fitted at every point.

Key 01-07-2011 09:25 PM

I've given this album a listen quite a few times, and I really really like it. It's not the Daft Punk sound obviously, but it still has that "im listening to Daft Punk" feel to it.

FETCHER. 01-08-2011 11:59 AM

I dont think it sounds unlike a stereotypical daft punk style, I think its something Id expect, the actual songs are something else.

djchameleon 01-08-2011 12:57 PM

there are only a few tracks that sound like typical Daft Punk...a majority of it sounds like regular soundtrack type music.

Arena, The Game has Changed, End of the Line, Derezzed and Fall are my favorite tracks....when I heard Fall while watching the movie that was so awesome and perfectly timed.

sillysillymary 02-03-2011 12:01 AM

So... here is copy&paste, as I was directed here from the Soundtrack forum

I really couldn't get this music out of my head after seeing the movie. So, I got the soundtrack and I love it. Can't get enough.

I hope its OK to post this here (the links... not sure about the rules):

Removed link because I haven't posted enough times yet.

Favorite track: Solar Sailor Removed link because see above.

But there are plenty of other great ones, too. That one is kind of mellow. I love it. I like #3 Son of Flynn, and #17 Disc Wars

QUESTION- please don't be mean, I'm new... How would a person know that a thread already existed on a topic? I searched and nothing came up. Or is it normal to be directed to existing conversation by other board members? Just curious...

sillysillymary 02-03-2011 12:04 AM

Oh nevermind... I searched again and stuff came up. I must have jacked it up last time.

djchameleon 02-03-2011 12:08 AM

yeah the search function takes a little while to get used to but the best way to search for something is to go advanced and then you can even go as far as to look in specific sub topics if you are looking for a certain band that's part of a specific genre

MisterFuzzyHead 02-15-2011 07:08 PM

I believe Daft Punk kept their creative freedom - hopefully they did for this soundtrack - If so it will be Badass :)

TockTockTock 02-15-2011 07:35 PM

The movie was terrible and it was filled with cliches. But, the soundtrack and the special effects were great. I'm sure Daft Punk gained a bit larger of a fan base from that.

I didn't even know that Daft Punk scored the movie until after I saw it (and I didn't go by choice- it was a work party thing). I couldn't get the music out of my head and so I searched the soundtrack and then found out it was all Daft Punk and then I was completely sold.

FIXED!

The Game Has Changed randomly popped into my head the other day and I had to rush to my laptop and play the song so I could get it out of my head.

Howard the Duck 03-11-2011 10:54 PM

i have no real interest in hearing the actual film soundtrack, based on word of mouth

i have only the dance trax version and that's incredible - it's a leak or something

the movie looks great but the story's kinda weak - i also thought the visuals weren't as striking as the original, given the 20-year lapse with the new technology and whatnots

still, it is my fave movie of 2010

Yea, I don't always agree with people when they say "Oh this or that band has changed"... Isn't that apart of growing as an artist? If they were to put out similar tones to what they use to do, would the audience be as large? I highly doubt it. The whole point in anything you strive for is to evolve, not stay the same.

FETCHER. 03-13-2011 07:07 PM

Some of it isn't "daft punk'y" enough because it is a ****ing soundtrack after all. I think theyve done pretty well getting a daft punk edge on the soundtrack considering. As for the actual songs. Jizz worthy.

djchameleon 03-14-2011 06:31 AM
