I think this is an interesting avenue they're going down. It still sounds like excellent Aesop Rock, and Rob Sonic is becoming a force to reckon with, after all. Need more listens, but I'm generally happy. Not a perfect album, but I don't find faults in it off the bat...
The only fault i can pick out at this moment is the chorus'. For some reason they're kinda annoying.
Has to be my favourite album of the year. I agree somewhat about the choruses though.
I'm not much on hooks. I agree, their presence is giving off a sour vibe. It's not awful, just forced, almost.
Yeah I wish more artists would go with the "madvilliany" model; shorter richer songs without hooks.
That being said i don't think they're terrible on this, aesop usually writes some of the better hooks of any rapper i listen to. |
I've still yet to listen to this, but I have it in my download folder. Tomorrow I'll give it a whirl. Any fave tracks from it at this point?
Hey Thom Yorke, how about adding album artwork when you create these threads? :pssst:
Breakdance Beach is pretty damn funny
Table Talk is dope, favorite so far.
Wanted to say really don't like the rhyme echo they do, for example on Mailbox Baseball. It's kinda fun for a second, but... meh. I don't hate it or like it. |
