Thanks. Pretty interesting stuff! I take back what I said about U2: MOST of their songs are identical, but occasionally they let themselves run wild with their creative side when Brian Eno isn't watching.

You should probably go make a Brian Eno Sucks thread

By the way, was anyone else annoyed to read Neil McCormick's review that Coldplay "sound like Radiohead with Paul McCartney as a frontman"? Coldplay are essentially an amalgum of all the worst elements of Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Oasis, U2 and the Beatles. Of course they do.

A pretty good amalgum of Coldplay, but lets see how they rank quality wise:

Beatles>Pink Floyd>Radiohead>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>(an average band)>>>>>>>>>>>>(a crap band)>>>>>>Oasis>U2>>>>>>>>(**** did this band actually get a recording contract)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Coldplay.

You forgot to put the sound grass makes when it grows before Coldplay.

I wish I could. Pray for me.

Is this... a true story? Mad props if it is.

Mostly true. I'm not sure if I'm that much heavier, but I've definitely lost my six pack  and my girlfriend .

It really depends if you enjoy the jolly pop ballads of the Beatles over the severity and dense layers of sound of Pink Floyd. Neither are by definition bad, it really deends on the type of person you are, or the mood you are in. However, I don't think I'm ever in the mood for Coldplay.

U2 are one of the most overrated bands in the history of rock n roll IMO...
theres not one album i can sit through from start to finish(the closest being 'Rattle & Hum')

and Bono is almost as pretentious as Sting!

Salami 11-13-2011 04:39 AM

Don't get me started on Bono....
