Default Tortoise - The Catastrophist

The Catastrophist
Ox Duke
Gopher Island
Shake Hands with Danger
The Clearing Fills
Gesceap
Hot Coffee
Yonder Blue
Tesseract
At Odds with Logic

First album six years. I thought it was good but nothing like their previous work. Short too.

Extremely disappointed, I was expecting a return to some mind-bending post-rock, instead I got 40 minutes worth of perfectly adequate elevator music. I'll still follow them in case they make another great album, but at this point I highly doubt it.

I'm beginning to believe that we're just not ever going to get another TNT. It just isn't going to happen.

Unfortunately I agree, but at this point I'll take another Standards over this.

It's not a 90s Tortoise album and no that will never happen again, but I really like this album. Not a return to form but sounds really nice to me, better than other recent ones. I'd probably give it a 3.5 or so

Same feelings.

I like it, but it does go by very quickly without really bending my mind. Not yet anyway, maybe it will in time. Looking forward to seeing them live again though.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Don't be so hasty, I'm making huge strides in the development of time travel

I've only seen them once, in 2001, but they were pretty fantastic. I'd love to see them again.

I'm not really familiar with their back cat but i quiet enjoyed the new album. I was expecting a mixture of electronic but with a heavier focus on a post rock style. instead it was more of a boppy electronic album. I know boppy is a terrible word to describe something, it was all i cold think.
