Beach Boys funking rule, bizniatch! She's My Little Deuce Coupe was the first rock song I'd ever heard, it is also my first musical memory of any sort.

They're a really relaxed group. Like, I can't say I like much of their produce, but you know, props on some of their hits. I recently found they're really good on a long bus trip too... Infact they're 2nd only to the "Na na na nana na...na HEY JUDE"!!! ....Judy Judy juday Juday Judayyyoowww!!!! And perhaps Tubthumping by Chumbawumba. But no, a real chill group.

The Beach Boys were actually a far more creative, serious musical outfit than what many people give them credit for. Many focus mostly, or entirely, on their surf-rock origins, and forget their creative endeavors such as the baroque-pop of Petsounds, and other stuff from circa that era. Much of it, far from being upbeat, positive, chill music, is actually pretty melancholy and depressing. Brian Wilson's a genius. |
