An observation, which in NO WAY says anything about my personal music tastes:
My Chemical Romance cd's are widely available in British record stores. My Chemical Romance videos are often seen on British music channels. Chinese Stars records, are not. I might well like the Chinese Stars, but I'm not going to pay over $10 for a 5 track mini album unless I know I like the band. |

I like them because I like the lyrics and I can't think of another band whose singer has the same style. Gerard Way from MCR switches up the way he sings (especially in "You Know What They Do..."). I think the music is very catchy and yes poppy at times which leads them to a bigger audience. Then they might tour with a heavier band and some MCR fans might start liking heavier music. If all these bands were underground and super heavy or technical than all you'd hear was Bubblegum Pop like Britney Spears and the like.
