Personally, I think that most of their earlier songs such as those on the album 'The Black Parade' are far better than those on their newest album 'Conventional Weapons' but overall they're pretty awesome.

You do realise that The Black Parade doesn't exactly count as "their earlier songs", right? It's their third album. Their earlier stuff is ok but by that I mean the first 1-2 albums and corresponding b-sides.

I hear a lot of hate for My Chemical Romance. I personally like them a lot. I like that all of their albums are different from one another.

I mean, Gerard Way (their former lead vocalist) is definitely talented and outspoken. He can do some neat things with words that really shouldn't rhyme but flow pretty well in the songs, and Ray Toro is a great guitar player in my opinion. He's got a lot of control, a lot of talent. And really I just like the bands attitude.

I'm totally open to you guys telling me that My Chemical Romance is overrated, untalented, rubbish and etc. So tell me what you think.

Why is this in the punk section?

I don't hate MCR. It's not their fault millions of teenagers across the globe funded the commercialization of emo and pop punk after they made the big time. If I wasn't going through a prog-rock phase when they first blew up I probably would've liked them too. Their music is boring and over the top imo but they have a few decent riffs. I wouldn't play it on stage but Mikey Way's signature bass from Squier is pretty cool.

I'd say pop rock. I don't really see any elements of punk in their music.

Black Parade is arguably one of the best rock records in the past ten years.

I spent most of my childhood listening to MCR and for years I have feverishly practiced guitar so that one day I may be able to play even part of a MCR song. People say Hendrix is god I say MCR is god. O how I love everything they have ever done.

I am going to save this thread to my hard drive, print it out and give it to future generations.
