Adele
I love ADELE so much. She has been given a BRIT and has had a Number One.
Is she the most talanted female artist around today? I am certain she is but then I love her music. Who can honestly say she is not the most talented female sonwriter and singer in the last decade and a precocious (genius) that is why she has been awarded. I just love ADELE!! She is certainly the most talented of the Brit School crop Winehouse is past and burned out and Melua is not even in the running. Kate Nash is simply not original enough and Lilly Allen is just not very good. Will ADELE surpass them all this year? Of course she will but then I love her. |
She's alright...
|
Never heard of her
|
me either.....
|
Shes ok, Heard that her album was really disappointing though. She has a great voice but I dunno. For singer/song writers they have to have something really special about them and she just doesn't have it.
|
WTF is Adele?
|
an upload prehaps?
|
From what I've heard, it's a pull between Adele and Amy Winehouse. I choose the latter, but Adele does have a great voice.

I would say that you are wrong, and that she is not at all the most talented female singer out there at the moment.
|
I'm vexed that Winehouse has been lumped in with the trio of chavs on offer.
Different class. And you should check out Duffy as the best upcoming female vocalist. |
|
Kate Nash is an absolute stain on the music industry. My best mate still big up's Amy Winehouse's album Frank and it's superiority to Back in Black. I have still yet to check it out.

What interests me is that not in one place did you give any reason why she's so great, so talented, such a genius. All you saw fit to mention was that she had a number 1 (whoopteedo!) which means nothing besides her having wide appeal, and that she'd been awarded with a Brit - again, whoopteedo. "Critics' choice". Which critics? From what I see, her album has already been sufficiently panned in British music media. Tell us WHAT makes her such a genius, if you're even serious about this. |

I am throwing it open to others to debate her in the context of other's from the Brit school. calling her names is a bit low though in this thread as noone is as pretty as me but I don't then call others ugly in comparison or the whole world would be ugly. |
amy winehouse for sure. the cheeky british girl gimmick of lily allen and kate nash was old to me before either of them even came out.

I don't know why Ann Wilson isn't on this list, but I voted ADELE.
|
she isn't a genuis. I class musicians like BoB Dylan, Jhonny Cash, Rufus Wainwright, Joshua Radin, Tom yorke(Radiohead) Chris Carrbara(Dashboard Confessional) Kurt Cobain. Noel ghalleger(oasis) Jeff Buckly. Damian Rice, David Gray, Issaac Slade(The Fray) Matt Bellamy(Muse) Micheal Stipe(Rem) Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison(The Doors) David Gilmour(Pink Floyd) Paul Weller(The Jam) Ian Brown(Stone Roses) Chris Cornell(Audioslave) Joey Romone(Romones) Scott Sellers(Rufio) so many more!!

You must have very low standards.

Nothing special about Adele, she's a predictable signing after Amy Winehouse got so big.

Adele seems to have found some sort of Massive Attack tribute act to do her production. I'm not fond of her.
Lily Allen is acceptable, but her lyrics are predictable and the whole 'ska' vibe is a little bit contrived for me. I resent Kate Nash just because she fits into this emerging strand of Billy Bragg type lyricists, whom haven't quite grasped that there has to be some sort of sheen on the realism in order for it to be interesting. As for Winehouse, I like her alot. Good production, fantastic voice, interesting look and has shown growth from her first album. This is why she gets my vote. |
umm..for the pole its deffinatley kate nash with lily being in second...but i dont see why charlotte sometime sisn't up there
anyway...the only adele song ive heard is "hometown glory" and lets just say after i heard that i'm not going to listen to her anymore... Quote:

I wouldn't call Adele a "genius" because shes not a genius BUT she is a very talented singer along with Amy Winehouse. Thats it though.
|
i wouldnt say shes the best female artist around
we still have bjork and pj harvey sounding a bit retro seems to be in right now so...shes really just hopping on wineo's coattails lovefoxx and alice glass are far more interesting anyway |
Is she that broad that sings "cold shoulder"?
|
Her new album is out now, listening to it for the first time right now. The first album was a lot more bare instrumentally, not giving opinions yet though.
|
Thread re-tooled.
Haven't heard it yet, although I was keeping my eye on it. Starting to get some 5 Star ratings. I'll get it soon and come back here. |
I absolutely hate Adele.
In fact, I'll put her in the most overrated artists topic sometime soon. Sorry fans ;). |
awwww. Surely there's so many people that would go before her, even if you hate her?
|
Hmmm... I usually hate bad hypes pretty bad.
But allright. There's some very bad dutch singers that I hate more. And Beyoncé, obviously. |
Adele is class, this is the only word to describer her music. Think she's got a fantastic voice and is one of the only genuine talents in a pretty souless, generic, auto-tuned UK chart at the moment where commercial imperative is at the heart of every record label. Her performance at The BRITS was amazing and it deserved the number one it got. I think she's a genuinely nice person as well and more good looking than some people think.

have the flashy performances and music videos full of theatrics and special effects this doesn't take away from the fact that she is an extremely talented artist. In fact I think it contributes to her credibility. |
