Depends if were talking about the genre or mainstream. Most of the time when people refer to music as "pop" or popular its referring to mainstream. If were talking about "todays" mainstream music, yea thats complete garbage. Its just music that sells. For pop music in general though, the genre that is, it has good music just as well as bad music. This goes for all genres though.
