I don't listen to death metal because I can't stand the vocals, I listed that song as a difficult song to play, because Adidasss claimed pop music was more difficult to write than death metal, which is completly ass backwards, but I wasn't listing them as a 'good band'. Nice try though.

I could say something similar about death metal. It comes down to personal preference.

You could say something similiar to about death metal, if you wanted to make an ass out of yourself. Death Metal contains some of the most consistently technical playing there is, especially the drumming.

So what does that prove?

Phil Spector & Joe Meek used layers & layers of instruments on their records sometimes taking months to record. And look at what Brian Wilson was doing with the Beach Boys.

Pop doesn't always mean simple.

My point was that just like pop sounds like generic garbage to you, so does death metal to me and many others. A skilled guitarist and drummer don't necessarily amount to good music.

I think this will be completely lost on him. Shame really.

You're dissing pop, yet have an image of John Lennon as your avatar. Dichotomy? I think so.

John Lennon was not some quintessential pop musician, he was an experimental rock musician

Psst. Lennon and McCartney were the very embodiment of pop and what good pop can and should be. The point that you don't seem to understand that pop can be sophisticated and experimental tells me that you don't even understand what pop is.

Go learn something about whatever it is that you're talking about, then come back and discuss it. At the present moment it's simply embarrassing.

I think if Oomph had replaced the words 'pop' with jackhammer's 'chart music' on his first post then this thread would have made more sense. What Oomph is not realizing is that Pop =\= Mainstream neccesarily. In that respect I would have agreed with him that most 'mainstream' or 'chart music' is contrived and talentless. Not all though.
