is it possible to be successful and not a sellout?

in some people's eyes at least

I like the new video, it would be better if it wasn't so sexual but I'm not gonna fight the inevitable. She is playing a bit with putting herself on a pedestal though; although I recognize it's science fiction, I just hope she is actually a bit humble in real life.

I really don't see much allusions to being a sellout. I see more allusions to the fact that even though Gaga claims to be bisexual(something that I'd take with a grain of salt, anyway), it's a group of gay people who feel exploited by her adoption as the 'queen of queers'.

To be honest, the majority of gay culture exposed through the media is the type that fits it's own stereotype to the point of unintentional self parody. Not being gay myself, I have massive respect for any demographic that says "don't stereotype me, and mindlessly service me". Kind of glad to finally see the backlash - even if small - to Gaga's flagrant commercial exploitation of the group.

As for being a sellout. I don't know what she could have sold in the first place. She seemed more a floundering gimmick musician who benefited from the economic merits of a relationship(well documented, and confirmed) with an established record producer acquiring massive amounts of money, and instant exposure. But, that's another tale for another day...

no such thing being successful equals being a sellout in the minds of the people that are so against artists selling out. You don't think she is humble? I guess you haven't seen what she did recently for that little girl that was playing her song on the piano. She invited her to perform with her during a concert.

I don't know why that group is being so touchy about it. She has a massive amount of gay fans and her fans don't mind her taking up the title as "queen of the queers" per say. I hardly see it as her exploiting the gay community. Would you go around screaming that Madonna exploits the gay community?

She claims that she is bisexual but I don't know I have a feeling that she is just straight. Same thing with Nicki Minaj, she goes around claiming that she is bisexual but people that know her, know that she is straight and has been with the same long term bf for awhile now.
