well the melody right before the chorus is very similar to the chorus in "Alejandro" and the beat is kinda close to "Nothing Else I can Say" but that's pretty vague since it's a reggae flavored beat.

None of her new material is impressing me at all. Born This Way was extremely disappointing to me, but I figured she would come up with something better. But this Applause song just sounds generic and boring.

I also don't like her attempts to hype up everything she does. She needs to let her material stand on it's own, instead of begging fans to buy the song or telling them to constantly refresh the Youtube video of the song. She's making herself look desperate.

Oh, well. Hopefully the rest of the album blows me away.

R. Kelly's line is the part I care about the most!

Some of the lyrics to the song though seems a bit weird. I understand her intentions but it almost seems like she's encouraging rape by saying use my body but you can't have my heart or my mind.

Technically it's not rape related since she is giving consent by saying "Do what you want" with her body but idk it just rubs me the wrong way.

I guess it's more related to a one night stand where you protect your heart because you don't want to fall in love with a one nighter and they won't get intellectual convos out of you because you are just in it for the sex. I'm sure there's also a double meaning to it where she's associating it with the media and fame.
