Pontypool has such a brilliant message though. Have you seen The Shining?

It follows seems so lame! Just judging from the trailer, of course. I know everyone and their uncle says it's the bees knees.
I thought that the first scene was really good and intriguing, but what followed was kind of messy and could have been something special with more work.

EDIT: and why the hell are we talking about horror movies here?

Some dad rockers online are pretty pissed about this, but I honestly think she's a good person for it. Plus, it's just a ****ing house!

I forgot to mention the Shining among my exceptions! Love it! Except for that scene with the dude with the bunny mask... or whatever was going on for a few seconds there, it's a great movie. The slow descent into madness for Nicholson's character is what makes it great. It's not so much whether or not he's going to murder someone any second and how.

I still don't know what to make of the teddy bear scene either, except for maybe hinting that Jack raped Danny.

I never thought of it that way. Maybe?

I'm leaning more towards the idea that it is just a David Lynch like thing where it is more about the mood and the dreamlike quality of the moment than about any specific symbolic meaning.

If it was anybody but Kubrick, I'd agree.

Yeah... probably. He's pretty methodical and not so much on the intuitive side, I guess. Maybe he just decided to have a bit of fun for once? Probably not.

And he was so particular too. The movie Room 237 has some really interesting (from eye opening to bat**** crazy) theories on The Shining. Also, that director's documentary called The Nightmare is a great horror movie that's legitimately terrifying without relying on gore or anything like that.

I'm going to check out the Room 237 review above and read a bit about The Nightmare. I found a documentary on YT with the same name, about the same subject, but I don't think it's the real thing since it is half the length of what IMDB says it should be:

Also, just on a side note, Don't Breathe is pretty awesome as well.
Home invasion films scare the **** out of me the most. It's that and demonic possession type movies that really get under my skin.

Understandable.

You know you are on in the internet right? I'm surprised you aren't more desensitized to it. You should stay away from this thing called 50/50 on reddit then. Don't even curiously check it out.

It Follows is about atomsphere more than anything. The soundtrack and that whole what ****ing time period are they in feel. It gives off a 80s John Carpenter feel and they do that on purpose. It's the same thing with Stranger Things.
