It doesn't make her songs worse. But I'd rather see her writing something other than pop music.

I just heard Jerry Seinfeld on the TV today say he was upset the stadium gave his private seats to Lady Gaga. Then he called her "unladylike."

Now, I agree it isn't really fair to give someone's paid-for seats to someone else, and I can see his point that if someone gives the finger to the crowd, being put in fancy seats as a result is strange (normally people who do impolite things are probably escorted from the stadium).

But when he calls her "unladylike"...whoa...that makes my hackles rise. Unladylike? He expects people to act in a "ladylike" fashion? Are we still stuck in the 50s when women were supposed to behave in a "ladylike" way?!? What is "ladylike" supposed to mean, anyway?! (Insert unladylike expletives here.)

And then the irony of him coming on TV and bashing her and saying things like, "I hate her," and why doesn't she stop with all her costumes and stuff...she's got talent, so why does she debase herself? At least, that's how I interpreted what he said. So, being ungentlemanly is okay, but not being "unladylike," apparently.

When I hear Jerry saying all that, it makes me like Lady Gaga MORE.

Although I did hear her Alejandro song today on the radio at work, and I really didn't like the lyrics ("Ale...Ale...Ale...Ale"), plus I thought the melody sounded very similar to some others she has written.

Jerry Seinfeld is ladylike. You should be more amused than pissed off.

Actually that's the problem.

When I first saw Gaga I was very intrigued. Like I hoped she made music as weird as she looks. And when it turned out she didn't I was disappointed. That's false advertising.

Is he? He didn't seem very ladylike on TV. He seemed like a ****.

And I never really thought he was much of a comedian, either...he always came across as someone who knows he's acting while he's acting. The funny people on his show were always the characters around him. So take that, Jerry oh basher of GaGa!!! (But I did really like the Seinfeld show.)

My goodness. I'm starting to sound all snarky and MusicBanterish.

Well he was never an actor, he was a comedian. Im not a big fan of his stand-up, its alright, its passable but it doesnt do a whole hell of alot for me. He excelled as a writer, in my opinion, and even played the straight man in Seinfeld 90% of the time while giving the majority of funny material to the rest of the cast when he easily could have been selfish with it.

I havent seen or heard what he said about Gaga though to be fair but i dont think she IS ladylike. Im not using that as insult of course and maybe he did.

You are right, mojo, that Seinfeld did do a very good job as the straight man, considering he isn't an actor...and that was charitable of him. It isn't fair of me to expect him to be a great actor as well as a great comedian.

Also, I agree with you that Lady Gaga sometimes isn't "ladylike" according to typical definitions. But that's part of what I like about her: she sometimes just seems to present herself however she wishes...though conversely most of what she does seems to be calculated to have a specific effect.

Here's what Jerry said about her:

Quote:
Jerry Seinfeld calls Lady Gaga a 'jerk' after her bizarre baseball game behaviour - Telegraph

"This woman is a jerk. I hate her," he told New York sports radio station WFAN this week.

"Get an act," he said. "Rhinestone bikinis and giving people the finger? But she is talented. I don't know why she's doing this stuff." "You take one 'A' off of that [Gaga] and you've got gag."
Harsh!

In the same article are some nice quotes of Lady Gaga, which make her quite endearing, I feel. She takes her performing very seriously:

Quote:
In the Rolling Stone interview, she admits to being insecure.

“When I wake up in the morning, I feel just like any other insecure 24-year-old girl, then I say, ‘ ... you're Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today’,” she said.

“I don't even drink water onstage in front of anybody, because I want them to focus on the fantasy of the music,’ she confessed.
She won't even drink water onstage so as not to distract her fans from the fantasy of the music! That's dedication.
