She has talent, you've got to admit it. Of course it annoys me that it's more of the "looks over music" which concludes to the scene of nearly naked women o___O but I guess if it sells then what the hell (though I personally wouldn't do that xD). I actually prefer the songs like Paparazzi, Poker Face and Just Dance to the really new stuff like Bad Romance But that's my opinion

This proves you didn't really now what you were talking about in your earlier post, or else you were just looking for a reaction from GaGa's fantics.

but I wouldn't be too suprised at all if that had to do with it. At the very least, I think the fact that she had a gimmick helped her get signed.

(:
What's the gimmick?

People here are making the ridiculous assumption that ''normal piano playing'' lounge music is more 'authentic' or whatever than club/pop music. Aside from the fact that it's difficult to make pop produced music without a studio (as was the case with GaGa pre-fame), I'm sure it's a direction she wanted to go in, given her tastes and inspirations, which are quite varied. So I wouldn't say she sold out, she was just handed a lot of musical resources and made maximum use of them, and even still, she practices her old style in several songs like Brown Eyes etc.

I'm guessing the gimmick he/she is referring to is the over-the-top persona. The ridiculous outfits and hair, etc

But how is that a gimmick for getting a record deal? GaGa was dropped for being ''too weird'' from a previous label, and rejected by countless others, so its hardly a card trick.

I don't know, I was just taking a stab at what I thought they meant by gimmick.

She's got tons of talent and I think her music is really creative. She'd still make a ton of money if she wasn't a freak, but not as much. Her ridiculous hair and outfits just adds to her persona. But that's what superstars do, they make themselves seem more than human and she is the best at it. Plus she is hott and super sexual. It's something you can market to a lot of people.

Naw, I can see her sticking for awhile. Mostly because just about everybody is pretending to be her lately.

One of the few pop artists of the 21st century that doesn't only play mass produced music that is based off of a formula. Sometimes I feel she does things just to piss people off and cause controversy, but she's a good musician and that's really all that matters.

And her piano version of Poker Face is excellent.
