I know die hard country fans hate the whole country pop sound but its the only way to get some people introduced to country. I know for my I prefer the country pop stuff because it seems easier on the ears than the heavy twang stuff. I haven't listened to a Taylor Swift album yet but groups like Lady Antebelum , SugarLand and Zac Morris Band are some of my favorites in country and they aren't as traditional as some of the older artists.

^Yeah, I worded my post kinda poorly. I know for a lot of people country isn't the easiest of music to get into. Truthfully, I think its got a lot to do with where you grew up or what you grew up listening to. I grew up listening to tons of older country with my mom so I have always been kinda been in touch with that type stuff. That's not to say I haven't listened to my fair share of the new stuff too. I absolutely agree that the new stuff is a great stepping stone for someone to get into the classics, and that's fine by me. I think that Lady A, which is from my hometown, has produced some of the better pop-country tunes as of late. I think bands like Lady A, Zac Brown Band, and Jamey Johnson have taken a more traditional influence than a lot of new country. Its mostly that I hate that country has strayed so far from its origins. I know that's common throughout music and that's really a poor reason to say I hate it, but yeah, its just that. lol.

^^Jamey Johnson writes from the heart. Theres something to be said for that in a world thats drifted to just what sounds good musicly instead of having a message you can relate to. Thats whats inspiring to me in music. Have you lived it and can you truly understand where their coming from if you havent. A song should be like a short film in your mind to me. To the point quickly so as to keep you intrested throughout its entirity. I like his High Cost Of Living song as well from J.J.

^Exactly. I think like that too. Music written from the heart is the absolute best. Don't get me wrong, I love wild and crazy music but if music is written from the heart with a real message..well, its at least going to have my respect.

My daughter is 11 and most all her friends love her but my kid doesn't.

I don't take her all that seriously as a musician, but at least she writes her own material. She also seems to be a nice girl, and doesn't have an ego (unlike some popular musicians).
