Matchbox Twenty is the sound of my childhood. I rediscovered them about a year ago, and not only did I recognize over half of their Greatest Hits album, but I almost always went, "(gasp!) IT'S THAT SONG!!!" It's a fun feeling, let me tell you - and they're well-crafted songs!

On the other hand, I completely understand the MB20 dislikers. Rob Thomas always sounds like he's on the verge of tears - and in such a sincere way that you just want to punch him in the face. Also, most Matchbox Twenty songs are too generic to back up his kind of angst angst angst so much angst. I still like them, but they're hard to really fall in love with.

Also: "She's So Mean" is HILARIOUS. There's not a line in it that's not a cliche ("SHE HAS A HARD / TIME / COMING / WHEN SHE CAN'T HIT BACK!!!!"), and yet Rob Thomas - for once! - sounds like he's having the time of his life singing it. It's really, really goofy fun
