thank god for that. who needs legitimate social advances when you can rely on cheap shocks for attention.

God damnit. I hate seeing a voice like that go to waste by singing generic pop songs and supporting *** stereotypes.

It was said that he would be "the next Freddie Mercury" but he doesn't even write his own songs!

this is probably what bothers me the most about Lambert. the media is pushing for a big *** comparison between this poptart and a legitimate artist. seems to me Freddie was as flamboyant as a jaybird but never had to rely on making out with Brian May to get press.

oh wait, Madonna made out with girls once too so it's OK, except she did it at the tail end of a 3 decade career to see if she could spark something up again and he hasn't really achieved anything besides being a walking stereotype for flaming pop stars.

last time i checked relying on sexually shocking material to get attention made you nothing but a whore.

No, because Freddie knew how to attract attention. Lambert's got it all wrong. He only rose to fame through American Idol, which is nothing but a popularity contest.

And whether or not he uses sexual mediums as bait for the press, Lambert will never be as big as Madonna was.

Not that I think he's the "next Freddie Mercury", but he actually does have 5 songwriting credits on his album. They are arguably some of the most well-written songs on the album. He said he would've written more, but he only had 2 months to put out the album, so time constraints made it difficult, but he says he'll be writing a lot on the 2nd album.

For example, he wrote this one:

He said he wrote it from experience. It's about when you're in a relationship, and the person you're with is about to break down, and you're letting them know that it's okay, let it out, I'll pick up the pieces.

Here are the lyrics:
Broken Open-

Broken pieces, break into me
So imperfectly what you should be

I don't want you to go
Don't wanna see you back out in the cold
Air you're breathing out fills you with grey
Don't run away, find me

I know the battles of chasing the shadows of who you are babe
It doesn't matter, go on and shatter
I'm all you need
Broken pieces, break into me
So imperfectly what you should be
Lay here, it's safe here, I'll let you be broken open
Hide you, confide to you so we can be broken open

Let's alight in the night
We can fall away, slip out of sight
When you drop your guard
Melt it in time, so it'll try crying

I know the battles of chasing the shadows of who you are babe
It doesn't matter, go on and shatter
I'm all you need
Broken pieces, break into me
So imperfectly what you should be
Lay here, it's safe here, I'll let you be broken open
Hide you, confide to you so we can be broken open

Broken pieces, break into me
So imperfectly what you should be
Lay here, it's safe here, I'll let you be broken open
Hide you, confide to you so we can be broken open

Lay here, it's safe here, I'll let you be broken open
Hide you, confide to you so we can be broken open

I agree with iLove.

Yes, he came from Idol. But he was one of the most diverse and musically talented people in that competition ever. IMO.

He has changed the way that competition will be viewed in years to come and I think he will be one of the more successful ones to come out of it.

But whatever respect Idol won from Lambert they lost with Ellen Degeneres.
