Bikini Kill was part of an amazing movement to try and gain
more rights for humanity in general. First wave brought about
obvoise rights like the right to vote for example, second wave
gave us rights in the work place but wanted to censore everyone
and third wave said **** you guys say what ever you want I have
personal impowerment. Bikini Kill even wrote sl** on thier arms
to show it's just a word. Third wave feminism wanted people to
be able to be like Lady Gaga and still have all the same respects
as everyone else.
I thank my sisters for working so hard to give me, men that are under societies thumb and pop stars this empowerment. *cue some silly American pride song*

Lady Gaga claims that she is not a feminist because she doesn't hate men and in fact celebrates male culture... but feminism is not about hating men. You can be a feminist and not hate men. A lot of female icons like her a very deluded when it comes to the topic.

Agreed. I thought that the basic principle of Feminism was creating an equal footing and at the very least, empowerment for women. Hate shouldn't be a part of the equation. Female Soul and Jazz singers from the 50's onwards have been revered by fans and let their talent shine through. Just because lady gaga shows her ass automatically makes her immune from criticism despite the fact that it's used as a marketing tool towards teenage boys? Give me a break. Feminism isn't a movement created so that flashing female flesh is an excuse to make bland music.

Many boy bands use their flesh to promote their music. It's called marketing however redundant it is for the more discerning fan.

I don't feel that a girl dancing on a pole naked deserves the same respect as someone working their ass off every day at two jobs. I understand it's probably a better way to make money, but I also don't respect people that sell drugs, for example. In fact, I think you'll find most sluts actually have serious self respect problems, whether you can see it from the outside or not.

You are arguing that feminism should be used to create monotonous songs, ass shaking, and overall increase our saturation with sex appeal. I beg to differ, and I bet most other feminists would agree.
