I found Smith last night actually at the urging of a friend. I really dig his song "A Fond Farewell" i know i know, like the single real original right? well, its not my typical style and i dont pretend to be a big fan of his, just a really good song. Real sad that he passed though.

The Beatles always were, and always will be the epitome of epicness, however to inherit this throne, I would say that Panic! At The Disco would be the right choice. I know this has already been mentioned, but it really needs emphasising that they rock :D

No band will really ever get to the Beatles throne by being talented, just harvested.
It'll probably be something from disney. |
The beetles are one of the most polar groups around you either love them or hate them. But either way you can't deny the impact they had on the music scene in their time. They became so popular that Paul and John could have wiped there ass with their instruments and sold more records than some really good band now. Ex. I am the Walrus. Just a bunch of random crap, but even now as I type the song is getting stuck in my head. So inherit the throne, I think not! Whatever vain they hit in the musical era has long dried up and any bands that want to rival that impact had better come harder than re-fried Hanson ie Jonas Brothers.

My favorite songs are "Cold Turkey" and "Set fire to the Lot." |
Today I think Wilco is the closest in my mind, at least musically. But as someone wrote, noone can have the same effect on the world, at least not with Lady Gaga as the most selling artist in the world atm.

The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones should inherit the throne.

I never thought of Gaga that way but I guess they've both achieved global pop domination. They've both created quite a stir, to say the least. |
