When she first came to fame, everyone was going ga-ga over the songs on her first album and the promotion machine made a real effort to show that she wrote them ALL.

Later there was a rumor, or maybe fact, I dont know, that she did not write them... a team called the Matrix or something like that, actually wrote the songs. Or wrote some of them.

Is this true?

Does it matter?

The Matrix is the biggest songwriting force in the pop music industry today, so it's not too unlikely.

Looking at their wiki it seems like they cowrote six of her songs.

You must really hate orchestras.

I played in them for years.

Orchestral music is one thing.

A pop star branded as a great new songwriter, and then turns out maybe isnt so much, is something else.

Eh, there's only a difference between not writing your own songs for pop versus orchestral music because you want there to be one. If the music's good it doesn't matter who wrote it.

What do you think of bands playing songs that only one of the musicians in the band wrote? Are the rest of the artists in the group subpar for some reason?

EDIT- Just realized I put a video in an image link, but I'm not even gonna bother getting rid of it at this point.

says you.

We all have our reasons for liking stuff.

Fortunately, you're only a big-mouthed tool with over 9000 posts on a music forum. You dont get to decide what anybody likes, or why.

Luckily I get to decide whether or not I tell someone that their reasoning is ridiculous. In this event I decided to go for it. Who wrote the song is a nice bit of trivia, but it doesn't affect the music once I find out. Did Avril Lavigne's music change for you once you found out she didn't write it or did the song stay the same?

That type of bias only excludes you from liking music.
