Lyrics have never been GaGa's speciality, but she's good at writing hooks and melody, often compensates for it. They sound a lot better when sung instead of read.

I agree. I do realize these lyrics are only a preview of the full song,so....She did mention the lyrics are quite filthy.

How is Radiohead high art?

I think he was just joking. Perhaps making fun of GaGa's pseudo avant garde persona?

Scarlett O'Hara 03-08-2011 07:20 PM

I thought he was making fun of the person saying listen to Radiohead instead?

Probably. So who do you like better, our B girl, or the little gag?

Scarlett O'Hara 03-08-2011 07:28 PM

Well Blackout is constantly on repeat in my ipod moreso than Gaga, but if Gaga brings out a brilliant album perhaps better than Britney's then I'll most likely go Gaga. But I still believe Brit Brit is in the running! I wish she didn't look like such **** when she is out and about. It's a false pretense when she looks sexy in her vids.

They are not; nor are Sigur Ros or any of their affiliates. The most irritating thing to see around here is "Don't listen to <pop artist x> man, cause like, <slightly experimental yet still very structurally cohesive artist y> is like, wayyy better.

It rubs off to me as "IF MY MUSIC IS TOO SIMPLE I WON'T STAND OUT IN A CROWD!".

Bingo.

I totally agree with you though.

Blackout is like a modern day thriller, a perfect pop record. GaGa will have to work her ass off to top it.

Samalam 03-09-2011 11:49 AM

Brittney Brittney Brittney.

Not so much for the music.. In that respect I think Gaga might have her beat.

Im just excited to see how Brit manages her (what is now? 3rd or 4th?) comeback.
Is she actually going to make it this time?
Or will it result in another breakdown, marriage and then divorce.
She keeps life interesting.

marina monteiro 03-14-2011 07:17 AM

gaga - is fresh and new - im going with gaga on this one

...Gaga would have been fresh, and new in 1983. Neither is that good of a description of her in 2011.

StEvEn1 03-14-2011 03:05 PM

Gotta go with Lady Gaga. Britney is just poor white trash who needs to go back home to her trailer and cook some roadkill possum for her lil' darlings.

No, she isn't. She's basically just knocking off what a ton of people were doing in the 80s. Most namingly, Madonna. In fact, peel away her GWARish sarcasm and shock gimmicks, she basically just is Madonna.

Britney Spears isn't anything particularly super-original either. Yet, at least, she doesn't have delusions of being an artistic genius with divine favor, unlike Lady Gaga.

Scarlett O'Hara 03-15-2011 09:48 PM

So I've had Britney's album Femme Fetale on repeat the last few days. I'm giving it a big thumbs up. It's not as auto-tuned as some were claiming, she was mainly using her natural voice (obviously enhanced to be better).

you dirty Sheila. You've had it for days and haven't shared. PM me!

charlieforrest 03-16-2011 05:15 PM

i feel like Britney was good back when she first started, maybe not good, but at least she had a look and still had her dignity lol. Her talent has declined to a point where she's kinda horrible. only thing cool about the cheesy new song is the electronic half time breakdown, kinda dig that. Now, I'm FAR from a proponent of GaGa, but she does have talent, she has a great voice live, very talented. She also can play piano, I'm not sure Britney can play an instrument. I'm not really a fan of either, but at least GaGa has some talent.Just my 2cents

It's a torrent, do you want it?

I can't believe no one has got it yet, although technically its not being 'released' till March 29th. :p

stop asking silly questions woman!

djchameleon 03-19-2011 08:12 AM

Thank you soooooooo much Vanilla for getting me a copy!

Anyways, I heard it and I love it but mostly for the tracks near the end of the album starting from Big Fat Bass down til the end. Oh and of course I love the first two tracks which is the two singles she has out now.

The Virgin 03-19-2011 09:52 AM

Lady Gaga, all the way. It ain't even a competition.

BobLobLaw 03-19-2011 08:09 PM

I'm kind of biased, but Lady Gaga.

I don't know. I just think she's the superior pop star right about now. Maybe I'll be wrong in twenty years, but for now, I'm sticking with Gaga.

Key 03-26-2011 04:30 PM

I'm going with Britney Spears. I have enjoyed her music longer, she was a childhood memory of mine, as I used to listen to her when I was sitting in my moms car and all that. Lady Gaga is great too, but Britney just has a special place in my heart.

Yeah, I have that nostalgia factor as well with her.

She should have a title like Princess of Pop or something.

Gaga wishes that she will be around for as long as Britney has.

I like Gaga as well and I don't think she's going anywhere soon but I will be watching to see if she just ends up fizzing out and getting burnt out creatively.

deadpoet 03-27-2011 09:41 AM

For now, I'm definitely more excited for the Gaga album, but I'll let you know which one I enjoyed more once I've heard both. I actually thought Gaga's lead single was pretty good.

Oh, and IMO, ...Baby One More Time beats anything Gaga ever did.

stephen1181 03-27-2011 11:47 AM

hard choice, but I hate Gaga enough to say Britney. Man she used to look so good back in the day, didn't she?

I second that Princess of Pop notion. I don't really allow her personal side to get in the way of me enjoying her music, even if her recent stuff is different. It's not that bad. It's still Britney, and I can respect her for continuing to make music regardless if her sound is different.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 03-27-2011 10:14 PM

Didn't like Gaga's album come out in the last few days, or something? Confuses me because through all the Gaga debates I've been sold that this album apparently is supposed to be a massive deal, but there seems to be not much a visible reaction here to it.

Is this a sign Gaga-mania is finally over?

My mistake, thought it was March not May.

newinfo 06-02-2011 02:09 AM

Britney Spears is better

The Virgin 06-24-2011 10:41 AM

this is a very very very very difficult thread.
i love both of them but right now, i just gotta go with Lady Gaga.

kzhen 07-06-2011 03:10 PM

Always go for Lady Gaga over Britney. Her songs are more unique and have much more meaning behind it!

Lord Dweedle 07-06-2011 05:44 PM

Lady Gaga is far better, she actually writes her own songs and can look sexy in a meat dress..
