Lady Gaga vs. Britney Spears

Both stars have a new album due out in the first half of this year. Which one are you more excited for and why?

Sansa Stark 02-11-2011 11:59 PM

It's Britney, bitch.

RVCA 02-12-2011 12:02 AM

"bitch" is not a reason!

Sansa Stark 02-12-2011 12:05 AM

you are so the wrong person to make this thread if you didn't catch that reference...........

but I'm kind of meh about the new Gaga album, I heard the single sucks

RVCA 02-12-2011 12:13 AM

I got the reference, I was just being a snog. I mean, a douche. Anyway, how can you judge an album based on what you've heard about a single you haven't heard yourself?

Sansa Stark 02-12-2011 12:24 AM

I'm listening now

It's very meh, it's listenable but not as good as anything off the Fame Monster. It sounds like anything any female pop star in the 80's ever came out with. I don't like it.

RVCA 02-12-2011 12:43 AM

Yeah but who's to say Brattney's forthcoming work won't have the same problem?

Sansa Stark 02-12-2011 12:48 AM

Britney always has that problem, she has a terrible voice so they make up for it with ****ty repetitive music

I'm really disappointed in "Born This Way", it sounds like a direct rip off of "Express Yourself" and "Vogue"

RVCA 02-12-2011 12:51 AM

I haven't listened to it yet :)

Sansa Stark 02-12-2011 12:53 AM

don't bother, if you've heard those two songs I mentioned after it, then you've basically already heard it.

poppie 02-12-2011 03:31 AM

Sorry but i would rather listen to Lady GaGa i can't stand Britney.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 02-12-2011 06:38 AM

Hmmmm... Britney's new album will probably fail to revitalize her career, and Lady Gaga's new album might just kill her career...

I get the feeling I might just love them both equally.

why do you keep thinking that Britney's career is on the down? it doesn't need revitalizing. With her last two albums she has been higher than ever, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Britney's album is going to be way better than Ms. Gaga's. I love the producers that Britney has on her albums. Darkchild is always helping her out and a few others.

If Lady's Gaga's whole album has this stupid retro 80s vibe to it, i'm definitely going to hate it and so are some of her other fans.

99.8572% of the attention that Britney Spears acquires is from the media freakshow, not from her music, and people seem to be even tired of that.

that's not true, I guess you don't pay attention whenever her new albums drop but she does very well and people eat them up.

Necromancer 02-13-2011 01:08 AM

Has Brittney Spears latest album sales and popularity competed with her original career and material? And does she compete with modern day artist like Lady Gaga? Or are we comparing two different era's of career popularity? My guess would be that Spears has had her day, and now it is time to move on, to new and other things.

Well overall her sales have been up as high as other artists. Yes , it's not going to top her debut or albums that came shortly after but that's because overall artists don't make that much money anymore with the amount of people downloading nowadays. Her last album still went platinum and the one before that went gold but was a few sales shy of platinum status as well.

She is still pretty relevant.

The only time that she is more in the news for gossip than her music is during that stretch of time when she wasn't creating anymore music period.

I am glad to hear that she is doing good musically, I would be more tempted to listen to Spears vs Gaga anyway, if I had to choose. I myself, would also try and give Gaga a fair review as well.

Britney has a lot of support from producers and singer songwriters that want her to succeed so they create some pretty good material for her.

Ben Butler 02-25-2011 01:10 PM

Lady Gaga, can't help liking some of her music because it's different and fun. Britney is the better singer and is the more attractive of the two artists but I find her boring.

Queen Boo 02-25-2011 03:17 PM

I will always love Britney Spears more then Lady Gaga.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 02-25-2011 04:16 PM

Frankly, I would give Britney Spears a lot of credit for the fact she doesn't call herself a super human, and call her music so brilliant that it's written by God like Lady Gaga.

They are both silly, stupid, dancey dance girl pop acts, but Britney Spears at least is sold as is, not as Gaga who is presented as some sort of artistic genius.

Scarlett O'Hara 02-25-2011 05:42 PM

Gaga because she has the entire package (writes her own music, sings live, an entire haus of fashion dedicated to everything, mind blowing videos).

I am sure Britney's album will be super fun though. I can't stop listening to her album Blackout at the moment, it's her best in my opinion.

"Lady Gaga co-wrote every song on the album"

Yes, that still counts.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a pop star who doesn't co-write, including Brittany, am I wrong?

I believe you are. Lady Gaga actually wrote music for Britney along with many other song writers.

Well, there's nothing wrong with co-writing things if you have the right people. I mean, even God is lending a hand writing this new album... apparently. Good she doesn't have that dreadful Rob Fusari to sleep with anymore in order to get things done. Thank God.

No, Britney doesn't write. She doesn't do anything but perform. Everything is handed to her. I think she might have co-wrote the one song about her sons but that's it.

I'm not a fan of God's past work. I mean the earth is nice and all but Creed are terrible.

There's videotape evidence out there that proves Scott Stapp is not that good of a Christian. Think God kind of just helped him write some stuff as a prank.

Queen Boo 02-27-2011 11:27 AM

You have a point but still.
Satan's songwriting>God's songwriting IMO

Not to be ironic but... HELL YEAH!

Queen Boo 02-27-2011 08:42 PM

When Gaga collabs with Satan, I'll like her more then Britney. Until then, nostalgia wins out.

alanpartridge 02-27-2011 10:31 PM

Meh. Britney is never going achieve the level of "Toxic" again. And Gaga? Well, I might see her for the show but never for the music.

Forget Britney and Gaga, listen to some Jonsi or Radiohead instead.

No, thanks I will pass on BOTH!!

holly984 03-06-2011 09:26 AM

I'd have to say Britney. I listen to both her and Gaga, and love songs from either, but generally find myself playing Britney songs with a bit more frequency.

Goblin Tears 03-06-2011 07:13 PM

I have heard snippets from Britney's new album, and it's nothing as groundbreaking as some of her previous work. Nothing on the level of ''Toxic'', or her pop masterpiece, Blackout, mainly because she is working with very non-innovative producers. However, there's a bit of dubstep in there and some other surprises that gives it a charm, it might be the edge she needs...

In truth, after hearing Governement Hooker, GaGa's album shows a bit more promise. But we'll have to wait asnd hear.

The Boy 03-08-2011 02:06 PM

Gaga, Gaha-aaaaah
Gaga, Gaho-oooooh

Io ritorne-
Io ritorne-
Io ritorne-

Goverment Hooker-ey

I can be cool
I can be anything
I'll be your everything
Just touch me baby

Pick up and turn around
Get your hands on the ground
Pick up and turn around

Get down

Hooker,
Hooker

Hooker,
Hooker

Government Hooker

I'm going to drink my tears tonight
I'm going to drink my tears and cry
'Cause I know you love me baby
I know you love me baby

Put your hands on me John. F. Kennedy
I'll make you squeal baby

-As long as you pay me

...

We had our night
Our real nature
No more time to decide
Let it climb, let it ignite
I can be cool
I can be anything
I'll be your everything
Just tough me baby

Lyrics leave a lot to be desired.
