Sparky gave his reasons why he doesn't like a band, people like myself agreed with him. That's the point of a music forum Jack, to discuss why you like or do not like a band. I then clearly made an error of misjudgement with regards to a post, which I've apologised for. There's no drama.

EDIT: In fact, I'm not really helping by using words like "idiotic" to make a point, but... eh. |
It's kind of funny that, after the demands for a more thorough explanation of why anyone would like them, I wrote up a whole paragraph about it only to be met with silence.

I just hope that the mainstream sound changes into something else soon, preferably less dancey. |

But i totally see what your saying, i guess electro-dancey is what i should have specified. |

You might like this album, then (unless you have already listened to it). Came out this year... |

Same instrumentation, same structure, very very similar rhythms, emphasis on guitar solos placed in boxed areas, heavy heavy emphasis on powerful very clear vocals. Perhaps Grunge has the guitars tuned down, and occasionally fast/punky elements. But, that's it, it's as poppy, and commercial as Hell. In fact, I'd say the grunge music was equally shallowly commercial and fashionable. Even if Kurt Cobain pretended not, but he was very very insecure about his legitimacy. I'd say though that 90s MTV alterna-attitude was glam as ****, just in a more ironic way. |

Although some of the 90's alternative stuff was like this, heading straight for stadium rock: (That's an awesome song by the way!) |

That said, regarding the argument earlier in this thread, since when did music taste become objective, eh? |

I don't get how people can get so worked up over whether people agree with their taste or not. Quote:

LMFAO Make me laugh, and are incredibly catchy. That's why I listen to them

LMFAO and Bieber are two of the greatest things to happen to pop music, people need to get off their high horses and give credit where it's due.

And if giving them no credit means I'm up on my high horse, I'd rather stay there, the view's nicer. |
Even talking pop culture, I don't see how you can substantiate that claim. Even in pop culture this decade, it would be hard to support.

Yup. Beebs really only writes harmless nonsense, completely beyond me why there's so much hatred for him. Warrant only wrote nonsense too, but there's no international wave of hatred for them. I don't see the reason to be honest. |
The hatred is for the fans, and the phenomena, not for the artist. I don't remember Aaron Carter having this kind of immense, prolonged backlash when he was doing the same thing. He was also not the same kind of pop force for young girls. It's the same thing with Twilight.
|
That's the problem, I suppose. There are horrible banner ads found on many websites which ask things like "could you be Justin's dream girl? Find out here!" It looks to me like this is exactly the sort of thing that will harangue girls into changing their personalities in order to impress him, which of course is awful.

I don't even dislike Beebs! I think him and LMFAO are both perfectly fine pop artists. I don't mind the fact that their stuff seems a little inane, nonsensical and sometimes really cheesy, I think they are qualities we should not completely deride. We don't need to take our music deeply serious all the time. Hence I don't mind them. |
