Correct me if I'm wrong, but the vocals in her music don't sound quite as electronically tweaked and artificial either.
i had the great pleasure of seeing her on the Ultraviolence tour...and she was spot on live...i'm not going to say that there is not polishing on the recordings....but live she was as good vocally if not better

I'd love to see her live. I have also heard nothing but great things about her live shows.

I changed it from sound to timbre. That kind of post is called a "ftfy" and I'm just being a nitpicky music nerd. You weren't wrong in any way before though.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

OK, thank you. When I use my phone to post I will now proof read the posts before hitting submit.

Nah, I mean you typed it correctly. The original post said sound but when I quoted it I changed the text.

Oh, I got it now. Sometimes I am a little slow and I'm not even a blonde.

Nice! I always thought she would give a killer live performance (different genre, but this was one reason I loved Collective Soul so much; their shows were consistently heads and shoulders above their studio albums) although I'll have to take your word for it, in regards to Lana, because I don't go to shows these days.

Over-polishing of pop recordings seems pretty much a standard part of the territory, but IMO her overall entertainment value surpasses her competition both vocally and in ways I can't quite describe. For instance, I'm not one for music videos (I usually find that they distract from the music itself, instead of enriching it), but I find it hard to look away when she's onscreen ("Blue Jeans" was the first I saw and I was impressed); she has this hypnotically magnetic vibe that doesn't really have to rely on gimmicky antics or overhyped PR campaigns to attract fans. I listen to a bit of Katy, Nikki, and Iggy, I admit, but Lana is just an altogether different league.

I still can't get on board the Lana love train. Her vocals bother me so much. I don't like the raspyness in her voice and it makes it seem like she's attempting to mimic vocalists of yesteryear and by yesteryear I mean like sometime in the 50s. It might be irrational but it gets under my skin and I don't like it.

Well I know in an interview Lana did she said some of her raspy voice comes from being a chain smoker since the age of 17.
