Am a Metric fan myself..
Also like Millencolin and the Awesome British band 'A' even though they split up a while back... |
What's the current definition of pop? There's so much damn crossover these days is there really anything left that's considered strictly pop?

Well i can't think of anymore but there's tons of it and most times you can distinguish it's pop in the music even if it's mixed with another genre. |
Pop Hall of Fame would be Michael Jackson and Madonna for me.

I think pop is generally used to mean highly accessible and listenable pretty much at any time, so a lot of genre blending acts are labeled as pop - Metric, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Imogen Heap, Fiona Apple, pretty much anyone who works to make music "too be listened to" (I've only ever commented on the avantgarde section, if you can't tell XP) on a surface level more so than be delved into (not to say there's nothing there of course. I did say Imogen...) is pop.
I think some of my favorites right now would be Cibo Matto, Phantogram, and Bjoerk when she's being pop-ey (Homogenic and earlier). I should get back into Metric though... |
My favorites vary far and wide and across generations
I like Dirty Loops (new modern band that blends pop and jazz) I like The Killers ( well, "Hot Fuss" anyway) I too like Metric but I also like Garbage (90s band) ABC (80s band) Erasure (80s synth pop) ELO (late 70s pop period) The 1960s pre-disco version of The Bee Gees The Sweet (1970s) just to name a few |

Anyone familiar with Niklas Nesset? I'm stuck with his song Fire With Fire at the moment.
