I'm from Denmark and I have noticed that Norway and Finland have amazing music scenes. I'd place Sweden a step below and Denmark at last place among the Nordic countries. Danish bands mostly suck. I can't believe that Volbeat and Nephew are currently our most groups.

According to my layman´s knowledge an awful lot of metal bands come from Sweden. But I am no longer into the metal scene - so I wouldn´t know, even though I myself am Swedish and live in a suburb of Stockholm.

Sweden is the center of metal..though I think most of it gravitates around Gothenberg. But a lot of good metal comes out of Sweden.

And music is pretty much a big export of Sweden, writing it or singing it. Even if you think about Eurovision, Sweden pretty much wins it every year as some Swede is usually involved in the song, whether writing it or singing it.

Danish bands in general. Ok, so that's maybe a bit of an extreme statement, but there really aren't any that I like much.

The whole death-metal sub-genre was corrupted by Gothenburg melodic death metal.

I agree, but I'm thinking more of still active bands. Plus most members of Mercyful fate and Kind Diamond were not Danish. I always forget that King Diamond is actually from Denmark. Both his projects are awesome.

There is still seemingly thousands of traditional death metal bands around, so I don't know about that.
