Ozric Tentacles? Gong? Nektar? Hawkwind? Space Rock? (instrumental, psychedelic, vinyl)

Here's a short compilation to get this moving!(It's still almost an hour long though

)
Making compilations are a problem as most of the tracks are quite long and many of these sites have an 100 mb upload limit.

Anyways, some of it might be an obvious choice, but this is more of an Intro kinda thing.

Track Listing -

1. Hawkwind - Brainstorm - I guess they have a strong following here. Essential to say the least.

2. Eloy - Poseidon's Creation - Eloy were one of the lighter bands(most of their later material that is), but they do represent a different side of space-rock as well. Love those vocals!

3. Nektar - Astronauts Nightmare - A British band that took a lot of influences from krautrock. They did change their style as time passed, but their earlier releases definitely had a lot of spacey elements.

4. Ozric Tentacles - Spirals in Hyperspace - Ozric Tentacles are one of those bands where once you get into the groove, It's hard to stop listening.

5. Ash Ra Tempel - Amboss - The most compelling piece of music you'll ever hear. This one is HUGE, but is also 20 minutes long - definitely a challenge to sit through the entire thing. Yeah, It's krautrock alright, but this is just an Intro anyways.

Steve Hillage ex-Gong guitarist produced a very nice series of space/prog albums in the 70's. "Fish Rising" being his most acclaimed, the Todd Rundgren produced "L", followed by "Motivation Radio", and my favorite, "Green" where he uses more synths and gets funky with some Jeff Beck style jams. This was produced by Nick Mason.

Here's a nice little unknown gem, that might Interest some of you -

Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come - Journey (1973)

Some electronic drum noodling, great use of Mellotron/Synthesizer, awesome guitar work and weird vocals definitely added to it all. Sounds a bit heavy at times as well. Hmm, I'm not sure what I could compare their sound to. But this is definitely trippy weird stuff, that would keep you interested throughout the entire thing! No youtube vids I'm afraid

. There are other Arthur Brown stuff there(some funny live stuff

), but I couldn't find any from this. Well, if any of you need it, I'll be more than happy to share

. Just give it a listen, out of curiosity. Who knows, you might like it.

and Dead Meadow would be my recommendations. Echo-y, mysterious, and most of all spacey.

Brainticket - Cottonwoodhill (1971)

This is possibly the trippiest album ever done. Extreme psychedelia/spaciness mixed with early krautrock; apparantly the band members went crazy for awhile after recording this, so they mellowed down on their next two albums.

Can't go wrong with any from the Radio Gnome Trilogy. That one's from the first part, 'Flying Teapot', which imo, would be the best place to start. Angel's Egg & You are the second and third part respectively. Personally, my favorite is Angel's Egg.
Once you are done with those, you could try 'Camembert Electrique', 'Gazeuse' and 'Expresso II' as well.

Glad you like this!

I would especially recommend Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come. It definitely feels different with the repetitive drumming and Mellotron/Synthesizer taking center stage often.

Anyways, here's another one if you are interested -

Twink - Think Pink
This might be bit of a hard listen to begin with, but it definitely gets better with time. Hmm, lets just say, the UK version of krautrock. There are a couple of tracks where they goof around completely and go totally out of line, and that may reduce it's enjoyability a bit. But other than that, it's definitely a great psychedelic experience

A wonderful album. Definitely recommended. I'm still missing 'Psychonaut' though. Been looking for it for quite a while now. I'll get it...someday!

Some good **** on this thread.. Check out Jane. Like Eloy, they were a 70s Space-Rock progressive band making music in Germany. Good stuff....
