Animals is my favorite. Lyrically not my favorite, but I don't listen to Pink Floyd for lyrical genius anyway and the compositions are top notch. Meddle and Wish You Were Here are my second and third picks.

What I know about Animals is Battersea Power Station, which features on the cover, so I will give the album a go as you two think it's a good one.
![]() As for later Floyd albums, I thought Final Cut was good, but it's more about Roger Waters, songwriter, than about the spacey instrumental excursions of Gilmore and Wright. (Also helps if you share Roger Waters' preoccupation with linking post-war Brits back to their WWII past.)

Coincidentally I listened to Animals on my way to work this morning and definitely enjoyed the music more than the lyrics though the lyrics aren't necessarily bad. Just very focused. Works as a whole though, like I said. Plus, this video is so good:

![]() Having said that, I think I can see why some people might think their music is a bit sleepy. A disproportion of their songs all have this similar, slowish tempo. They don't have many songs I would consider to be "fast" songs.

If there were such a thing, I'd sooner listen to an album of this stuff than The Endless River tbh
