The Mu album is actually called Lumerian Music, and it was released in 1974. At least, that's what Discogs.com says.

Hmm, it was released also in 1974 (on the label United Artists), but the first release was in 1971. Several sources confirm this including wikipedia and the homepage of Merrell Fankhauser who formed the group along with Jeff Cotton. It seems the original pressing is not entered into the discogs database.

Regarding what the title should be, I checked on discogs.com and I have found a rerelease from 1988 of this album which simply has the title Mu. Maybe Lumerian Music is an alternative title which was used for the 1974 (re)release.

No idea. I didn't know about any of that other stuff beforehand. So, I think it'd be best to just leave it as it is and not complicate things.
