Strongly prefer Yes to King Crimson. I dig CttE, Fragile, the Self-Titled and a few tracks from the mid-late stuff. Hell, I even like most of Tales from Topographiwhats.
King Crimson always rubbed me the wrong way, and I can't really put my finger on why. Robert Fripp can play with a such a mellow and gorgeous tone, but I don't really like the compositions themselves I guess.
Or maybe it's because it didn't sound like Yes took themselves quite so seriously.

King Crimson and Yes as a kid? You had a good childhood.

Dunno. My bad impression lasted 'til I was about 20. Then started appreciating their aspects.

Understandable, I had the same thing happen to me in terms of bands like Bright Eyes and Neutral Milk Hotel.

I slightly prefer Yes, but I think ITCOTCK is the best album by either band.

Prog-era Yes were much more successful than King Crimson. It seems that Yes music has a wider appeal to rock fans.
