I couldn't make a call here - very different bands. Perhaps some similarities early on, but Crimson kept going away and re-inventing itself, whereas Yes seems to followed a kind of linear line from early prog days to more commercial stuff of the Buggles-era 80's. I've got everything from the Yes Album to Tormato and it's all terrific, but I really lose interest after that.

Crimson started as a Heavy Prog band, then evolved into kind of a Jazz band, then went away and came back as part of the slew of 'New Wave' bands and now seems to have gone back to being super heavy. The only constant really is Fripp's guitar and even that changes pretty drastically in each incarnation.

Even though Jon Anderson sang with Crimson, and did a good job, it's still kind of an apples and oranges comparison to me. Anyway, I don't have to choose, so I won't....
