I remember I got to see Musical Box twice - loved them. At the same time they had an Aussie Pink Floyd cover band, but didn't go cause those tickets were fetching around $200. It's all about supple & demand. The Musical Box tickets didn't go for that much. Last show I went was Steve Morse & Joe Statriani (Satch headlined). So it was an arena size concert, but it practically sold out the venue.

I think of Morse and Satriani as rock guys, not so much progressive rock. Really good rock guys, but a great prog band should have a much more sophisticated rhythm section.
The Musical Box shows I have seen were fantastic... but they should be. Genesis did an album then toured that stuff either the same or the next year and moved on. They have been playing that stuff now for decades.
It's also much more challenging to write, compose, perform and record that stuff than to copy it with precision. But I still like to hear that music performed live like a symphony would treat a classical piece with respect.
