While I agree that Waters' bitterness is what brought depth and meaning to albums like Animals, The Wall, DSOTM and so on, Gilmour's dreamlike soundscapes should not be forgotten. It brought balance and made them truly great! Too much of Gilmour would have been too boring and too much Waters would have been way too depressing. That is why I'm not crazy about Final Cut (though I do like it in parts). The balance is what made them legends. That's what I think anyway.
