[QUOTE=covle]you "smote" him there? you asked him to elaborate. nothing more.
how about this. count the number of chords in american idiot-any song or album would do, but people for some reason are quite persistant that this album isnt a waste of time-and then compare it to basically any other band, but for arguments sake shall we say, godspeed you black emperor, or refused, or any opther band with more than three chords?
greenday have limited musical mtalent. of course they have a minor amount, they can play an a,c and g and occasionally an f on guitars!
greenday are pioneers in nothing. they are inspirational to no decent bands i have ever seen or heard about.
in my opinion american idiot was made because the record companies went "your album sold well. make us another!"
"yes sir mr gives me money. anything you money money."
three days later, american idiot was written.[/QUOT
Yes, i did politely ask to elaborate, which he didn't, although he did show good skills in avoiding the simplest question, of how Green Day's music is "derivative", which would strongly suggest he included this word because he liked the sound of it, and/or to sound clever, which indidently due to its misuse, he failed to achieve.
He wittily stated earlier that Green Day's music was purposeless and later went on to answer my 2nd question, which was what makes Green Day's music bland, by cunningly typing some dollar and pound signs at an vague attempt to imply Green Day produced American Idiot just for the money, which surely then, would make Green Day's music's purpose, to earn Green Day Money, would it not.
Hypocrisy aside, he didn't actually elaborate on any of my actual questions, but merely whacked a wild acussation in, that Green Day are only in it for the money which would mean a) he knows Green Day personally, or b) he's a complete and utter prick, who thinks everyone else in the world is as much of a philistine as he is. If he genuinely responds to this with "a)", i personally will skip backwards, stark naked around Siberia, with a tattoo on my head reading, "Siberians are scum, furthermore shoot me", whilst playing the banjo.
In response to your particular brand of inane b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t., i actually like the fact that Green Day generally use mainly simple power chords, because that makes the songs i love easier to play and to improvise with. Besides, as i've said before, it's how the music makes me feel which is what matters to me anyway. If it makes you retch, crap yourself, or do a little jig, then good for you mate, have some cake, but i only crap myself with joy, retch with glee and jig with reckless abandon, when i hear Green Day.
