21 Guns (among other songs) grinds on my respect for Green Day.

21 Guns = Electric Light Orchestra - Telephone Line
American Idiot = Dillinger Four - Doublewhiskeycokenoice
Warning = The Kinks - Picture Book

Also, Boulevard of Broken Dreams bears a striking resemblance to Wonderwall by Oasis (though that's a bit different since that chord progression is overused in general).

Smile Green Day

Wasn't sure whether to put this in pop or punk, but I guess Green Day are more of a pop genre now. So any of you guys into their stuff?

I used to be a fan. My next door neighbour is a fan of 'em. He cranks it up to wake me up from my wet dreams. How sweet of a dear, eh?

How the hell does 21 guns relate to telephone line?
And many punk songs have a similar stye to american idiot, where lines are sung during rests in the instrumentals.

I have to say that I am a lover of Green Day. Particularly a fan of their older stuff from Dookie, and have later come around to American Idiot. Saw them live in 2009 and they were epic.
