You're still physically training your body articulation while playing guitar and opening mental pathways. Energy is put into both whether or not it's as physically demanding as the other.

I'm not talking about an interest in music generally (i.e. listening). I'm talking about the instrument aspect (guitar hero vs. a real guitar). Not quite the same thing.
