I like the ramones better than the clash,but london calling is the greatest punk album ever. My favorite is My brain hurts from screeching weasel,but,even if this isnt "true punk" it still has a lotta punk on it.

dude,im not pissed or anything,im justs saying. I love DK anyways(more than the clash) all im saying is that the clash are greater,but im ****ing glad DK won this poll!

YAY for the Dead Kennedys. On a side note East Bay Ray is in the new issue of Guitar World and it speaks of his equiptment so if you want that killer DK sound just go out and buy the magazine and read it :P

No they aren't.
DK could be considered the most political band in the world and i sure as hell wouldn't argue.
DK put out way more pure punk records.
The clash are classic rock.

meh,you can say that,but the clash's first 2 albums and parts os london calling are punk. DK are very political and put out more punk records(and better ones too).

They hardly had any pure punk albums.
It was classic rock.

i do believe london calling was a punk rock album but on a more complex level. the lyrics to the songs were bringing up 'punk' ideas back then, such as problems in the society in england and the world. they had serious matters on their minds. you don't see the eagles writing about that kind of stuff.

i can understand your point, but saying they hardly and any pure punk rock albums is just absurd. they started when punk was becoming a huge thing in society, they were the leaders alongside with a few others, so who's to say they had no punk in their music?

and DK came after these guys
