Ian said it best in the Social D/Youth Brigade docu, not a set of rules, but simply a way saying you have your **** together. I get pissed every couple of weeks and still feel I have a "straight" lifestyle.

I guess you could consider me straight edge. But that's because I'm just not interested in drugs, alcohol or (casual!!) sex.. Maybe when I'm older but I don't want to mess myself up right now. I would never preach being straightedge though, people should be allowed to do what they want.

In the end it all comes down to what you want to do and what makes you feel the best about your life. If that means being 100% pure or whatever the goal of being straight edge is then all the power to them.

The only thing I do is drink from time to time. Casual sex is nothing I ever did, nor ever want to do, nor need to do and I smoked weed twice in my entire life.

Stuff like that just doesn't interest me. I have a husband so I get sex whenever I feel like it from him, drugs are not really my thing and drinking occurs like twice a year. Just not into it.

yeah, i think i could do it. i don't really drink often, and i don't do drugs

I think that lifestyle is boring. Especially when stupid hardcore kids call themselves straight edge and they have no idea who the hell Ian MacKaye is. D=<

I just get sick of people always assuming that straight edge people refuse to associate/be around people who aren't. The way I see it, being straight edge is a choice I'm making for myself, and it doesn't have to be that way for everybody. As long as everybody's being respected, what's the big deal?

My feelings align with yours on the matter. I happen to be straight edge, but I do not actively seek out others who share my lifestyle choice. It is a personal matter, and whether or not someone chooses to drink or do drugs is no more my concern than the fact that I don't drink should be to them. It confuses me when it bothers people that you choose to abstain, even if you are totally respectful of the choices of others. But hey, different strokes for different folks, right?

im not straight edge and will most likely never be. i hang out with a lot of straight edge dudes and respect the way they choose to live. but everyone who does it as a trend is really living to the word...i love when you all say straight edgers haha :)

Q: how many straight edge kids does it take to finish a six pack

A: 1 as long as no one is watching.....

j/k I have a few straight edge friends, I admire the ones who actually practice what they preach. But I hate it when they start getting in peoples faces about things. But I am always open to a good debate.
