You could make that case, possibly, but only when you finish your Fall journal. It's common knowledge that true Fall authorities finish their Fall journals.

definitely awesome lyrics on Fall songs though, MES writing style influences the character of the music too I think, he has as unique a voice on the page as into the mic
I'm guessing the "intended audience" of the songs, inasmuch as such a thing exists, would've spoken the same working class Mancunian dialect

Never not obsessed with this one

This is my pick for the best Fall tune of the '90s - represents the band's ethos very well.

The band always had interesting b-sides too - even in the '90s. This one in particular sounds quite unlike the majority of the rest of their work, partly due to the absence of MES in the track.

Wait a sec, those were actual English words Mark was using?

All this time I thought he was singing some made up alien language like Magma or something.

It takes some work to get your ears used to it but British regional dialects is where the true beauty and creativity of English is at, for me. You got working class blokes speaking in ditties and rhymes, coming up with crazy puns and parodies on the spot etc. What Jakobson calls "the poetic function" is hyper active with them.

MES is an amazing wordsmith but it's a cultural thing too
