All sounds the same
 

I love this genre. It's fast paced and catchy. Shure, the lyrics are mostly bad, but that's okay, the genre is awesome. The one thing that bothers me is that when my MP3 is on random and it goes from punk song to punk song I just can't tell the difference btw most of the bands because it just all sounds too much the same. The singing style, the instrumentation, etc. . . How could the punk scene reinvent itself, has it all run out of ideas?

Uh, maybe you shoud look harder. No Cash sound nothing like Against Me!

And Social D are nothing like Strike Anywhere are nothing like Converge are nothing like Rise Against.

It ran out of ideas in the early 1980's.

Every band should listen to "The Shape of Punk To Come" and learn something

its probably cos you've only listened to the albums once or twice. you need a good few listens before you notice distinct styles in a bands sound that become instantly recognisable

yep. even with older punk bands they don't sound a whole lot alike. anyone who confuses the clash with dead kennedys is insane. insane i tell you!

Punk ran out of ideas, and was forced to evolve. First into post-punk, then post-punk evolved into alternative rock. Enter Husker Du and the Minutemen.
