Big Boys! (funk, hardcore, favorite bands, single, albums)

The forum's kinda dead, and i want to see who else loves this band. Hence the thread.

Anyway, the Big Boys are one of my favorite bands. They're a hardcore band from Texas, who blend hardcore with LOTS of funk and some soul. And boy, theyve got some soul! If anyone can name a band thats as fun to listen to as the Big Boys, then i'll be very impressed. I will possibly give you an e-cookie.

They have two mammoth compilations which encompass pretty much everything they released. one is called The Fat Elvis. The other is The Skinny Elvis. Both are supremely awesome, you should check them out. Whoever you are, even if you dont like hardcore.

And finally, Funk Off is without doubt the single funkiest song of all time. If anyone is interested (you should be), Ill upload some songs

never heard. reading your post i am very interested. would you consider them more funky than the minutemen?

I'd say they are a little more funky than the minutemen at times. They have some horns in some of their songs, which coupled with the bass-lines gives them a very funky feel. It's hard to really judge, both bands have lots of funky moments. Both are amazing though. The song Funk Off is more funky than anything the Minutemen (or any other band) have ever done.

That's because Bad Brains were rastafari and you are not supposed to like homosexuals so I can't really blame them for their beliefs.

I dont blame bad brains for their beliefs. I just think they could have paid the Big Boys for the show, like they agreed, and not caused any problems regardless of their opinions on Randys sexual orientation. They should've respected the fact that not all people share these same beliefs.

But hey, I love Bad Brains' music. I guess thats all that matters.
